What is a 2D Data Matrix?
The 2D Data Matrix is a two-dimensional code consisting of black and white “cells” or dots arranged in either a square or rectangular pattern, also known as a matrix. One side of the code has an L-shaped pattern, which aids the scanners in locating the proper orientation of the code. A data matrix is composed of variable length data elements, containing text or numeric data, and can be read from any angle. The size of the barcode will depend on the amount of the data encoded.
The data elements that may be included in a pharmeceutical 2D Data Matrix are:
- Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)
- Serial Number
- Batch/Lot Number
- Expiration Date
Searching by 2D Data Matrix (Scan)
